KontexVoX offers two main modes, and choosing the right one comes down to a single question: are you on location at the moment you take the photo, or afterwards in front of your photo library? Both exist because a photo's context has two lives: it's right in front of you at the moment of capture, then it only exists in your memory — and memory erodes.

Capture Mode: on location, in real time

Capture Mode is built for situations where you're in the middle of doing something and the context is alive. You take the photo, you immediately describe what you see. The app transcribes your voice and engraves the text into the metadata, live.

Typical use cases: garage or workshop inventory, rental inspection, insurance report, construction site survey. In all these cases, what you see while you're there is worth more than what you'll try to remember later — and nobody goes back to a construction site to re-note a crack.

Classic Mode: afterwards, on existing photos

Classic Mode works on photos that already exist. You select them by group, a slideshow starts, and you comment on each photo as you swipe. It's the mode I first created KontexVoX for: thousands of photos in our libraries whose story nobody remembers — and writing it by hand, photo by photo, on a keyboard, is the job you abandon after twenty images. By voice, you finish it.

Typical use cases: a wedding album after the event, family holidays, newborn photos, archives and memories to preserve.

The decision tree

1. You're on location, things are happening? → Capture Mode.
2. The photos already exist and you want to enrich them afterwards? → Classic Mode.
3. You're filming and want to comment in real time? → Video Mode.
Rule of thumb: if the context is in front of your eyes, Capture. If the context is in your head, Classic.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mix both on the same project?

Yes, and it's common: an inventory started in Capture on location, completed in Classic on the photos taken last month. The enriched files are identical in the end — a description in the EXIF.

Do both modes write to the same place?

Yes: the description field of the EXIF metadata, in an enriched copy (the copy album). Search, sharing, AI post-processing — everything works the same afterwards.
